An Ex-Trump White House Lawyer Has a Harsh One-liner for the Judge’s Claim of “Classified Documents”

On Wednesday, Ty Cobb, a former White House attorney in the Trump administration, shot down U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon’s claim that the jury might not understand how complicated the case is. Cannon is the judge that Trump appointed to oversee the prosecution of the former president for leaks of classified documents.

When Cannon said that on CNN’s “OutFront,” Cobb fought back.

“I believe most of the jurors will have a very high IQ,” the lawyer told Erin Burnett.

“That’s probably not ground that Judge Cannon has been on before,” he said. “But I don’t think they’ll have as much trouble as she thinks they will.”

Cobb said that he doesn’t think the case will go any further, though.

Cannon put off Trump’s criminal trial indefinitely earlier this month after making the process take too long.

Cobb said, “I think the fact that she’s setting up hearings, multiple hearings, for one or two motions at a time is strong evidence of that.”

“Most federal judges would have ruled on all the motions that were still pending a long time ago,” he said. “To be honest, this case should have gone to trial yesterday, or two days ago, when the original date was set.” “It would have been easy for this case to go to trial.” Only her lack of skill and perceived bias have kept that from happening.

Cobb had earlier in May said that Cannon’s acts in the case were “inexplicable.”

Cobb said at the time that Cannon “has no intention of getting this case to trial.”
