Asa Hutchinson Explains the “Major Point” of Trump’s Guilty Plea

0

Earlier this week, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) talked about why the guilty decision in Donald Trump’s New York hush money trial shouldn’t be “lightly dismissed.”

After Trump was found guilty on 34 counts, Hutchinson said on NewsNation, “You had 12 jurors who, from all appearances, really devoted themselves to seeking the truth in this case, and all 12 of them unanimously said Donald Trump is guilty.” Trump was found guilty on dozens of charges during his 2024 presidential campaign.

“I don’t think that should be easily brushed off.”

Hutchinson, a former presidential candidate and vocal Trump critic, said that the judge’s instructions to the jury could be questioned and the conviction could be overturned on appeal. However, he also said that after weeks of testimony, people shouldn’t “diminish” the ruling.

He said, “That’s the main point.”

“This is a very important time for the United States of America.” It is not good news that a former president was found guilty of a major felony, and Republicans should be very worried about the presumptive nominee who has now been found guilty.

In November, the former governor of Arkansas was booed by a Florida GOP crowd when he said there was a “significant likelihood” that Trump would be found guilty in 2024.

At the Freedom Summit for the Florida Republican Party, Hutchinson said, “It might not make a difference to you, but it will make a difference for our chances to get independent voters in November.”

“It will make a difference in those close Senate and Congress races.” It will hurt the GOP for decades to come.
