Attorney General Drummond Presses Biden Administration for Answers Regarding Migrant Child Trafficking!

CNS NewsOklahoma’s Attorney General Gentner Drummond says he has sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and FBI demanding that they respond to a recent report from the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) that found unaccompanied migrant children in federal government custody are being sent to dangerous places, such as to be sold as slaves.

?It is inexcusable that the Biden Administration is failing to oversee and protect tens of thousands of vulnerable children,? Drummond said. ?The southwest border situation is out of control. The disastrous policies that caused this chaos harm vulnerable migrant children. Our failure to secure our border and enforce Congress’s laws endangers public safety in Oklahoma, and now we know it endangers children.

Drummond’s office said 21 other Attorneys General signed the letter, which expresses concern over the White House’s recent revelation that it cannot find 85,000 migrant children. According to a February 2023 New York Times report, many of these children have been forced to work long, dangerous hours in violation of child labor laws, resulting in serious injury or death.  The letter says others are sex trafficked.

The attorney’s general notes that Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley asked the Department of Homeland Security for its plan to address this growing crisis more than three months ago but has not received a response. The coalition of attorneys general wants the administration to explain these reports in writing by May 1.

Logan and Payne County firefighters fight large wildfires? Our states have a strong interest in enforcing state and federal law within our borders,? the letter says. We are dedicated to fighting human trafficking and are outraged that victims now include federally cared-for children.
