People who live in Idaho are lucky to live in a state with very little crime and where almost everyone knows everyone else. This makes the streets as safe as it is possible to be in this day and age. But no state is perfect in every way. We may have talked about the most dangerous places in Idaho a few months ago.
We go into more depth about Idaho’s most dangerous cities in the article below. These cities may or may not have made the list based on their overall score. Based on the most recent FBI crime report and other sources, such as the Idaho State Police yearly report, these are the most dangerous places in Idaho at night:
1. The Sandpoint
The FBI’s most recent report says that this Northern Idaho tourist town has the highest rate of aggravated attacks in the state, even though it is a small town at heart. Of course, Sandpoint is also thought to be one of the coolest small towns in Idaho. It has some great places to eat, great art galleries, and amazing outdoor adventure possibilities.

2. The Twin Falls
Recently, Twin Falls has been at the top of the state for illegal methamphetamine use for about ten years in a row. If you want to go, you should also know that the area is known for its beautiful rivers. In fact, there are more waterfalls in Twin Falls County than anywhere else in Idaho!
3. The Shoshone
Our FBI study says that there is a 1 in 114 chance of becoming a victim of a violent crime in this small town in southern Idaho. This town has the highest crime rate for violent crimes in Idaho. Garden City came in a close second. But the area is known for a lot more than that. Some people think Shoshone has one of the best views in the whole country.
4. Boise
Even though Boise is a growing city, the overall crime rate is still surprisingly low. However, if recent college scandals, probability, and population size are any sign, Boise could soon follow the lead of other big cities across the country. It makes sense that Boise has the highest rates of every major type of crime.
5. The Idaho Falls
People don’t think of Idaho Falls as a very dangerous place. A lot of people don’t know this, though, but Bonneville County has an amazingly high crime rate. Idaho Falls has many wonderful hidden gems as well. There is a lovely secret garden, an underwater ghost town, and a walk with hidden caves, waterfalls, and a desert oasis that not many people know about.
If you put this list of the most dangerous places in Idaho together with our list of the most dangerous towns, you’ll have a pretty good idea of where in the Gem State crime is higher than usual. It’s important to remember, though, that Idaho is still a great place to live and that numbers don’t always show the whole story of a town.
