Georgia Woman’s Suspicious Death Transformed into a Murder Case, Husband Faces Charges!

A man told the cops that his wife had killed herself with a gun. After almost eight hours, he was caught for murder with intent. Lucille Ann McManus, 63, died in Warner Robins on November 25. Her husband, Brian McManus, 55, is charged with her death.

At first, police said in a news release that they were looking into a “suspicious death” at 202 Wake Forest Drive after a “possible suicide.” The event took place on Friday at 9:10 a.m., according to the news statement. It’s not often that the police and media report suicide, but the police sent out the first press statement saying that they are investigating the nature and cause of death.

Taylor Robbins lives on the other side of the street from where McManus lives. His home surveillance footage shows that he said he was going to work at 8:41 a.m., which is about the time he saw Brian walking his schnauzer. Robins has lived in the same Warner Robins house for more than 20 years.

In spite of not being close, he said, he often saw his neighbor and the two of them would wave at each other. “We physically crossed paths, but we never had any conversation or got any context about him, or anything,” said Robbins. But on Friday, he went to work by a different road to stop by the bank and saw Brian walking his dog on a different path.

“I saw that he wasn’t quite on the block where he usually is.” Roberts said, “He was a little further down, close to a ditch.” In Warner Robins, Sgt. Justin Clark said that Brian called the police around 9 a.m. to report that he found his wife dead when he got home from walking the dog. Clark said, “His wife, Mrs. McManus, killed herself.”

But detectives didn’t believe Brian’s timeline fit with what “the crime scene itself suggested.” Clark says that people called the wife “Ann.” The police found her in bed with blood all around her. Police say they also found that Ann’s head had been hit, causing blunt-force injuries.

Clark said that the physical evidence and home video footage they found “mostly through canvassing the neighborhood” did not always match up with what McManus was telling the police. Warner Robins Police say that “investigators did locate possible items of evidence in the immediate area” of McManus’ home.

They didn’t say what proof that is. Residents in the area say they heard fighting coming from the house the night before and the morning of the event. Brian was “calm and not overly emotional” when first responders arrived, and Clark said the detective wasn’t sure if it was a suicide because the scene of the crime suggested “it was not a typical suicide.”

Clark said that Ann has relatives in the area. Police say Brian is from England, lives in the U.S. on a visa, and has been arrested before. Their goal is to get more information from other areas. Brian was caught just before 5 p.m. on Friday, almost eight hours after calling the cops.

Clark said that he was processed and booked at the Warner Robins Police Department before going to the Houston County Jail. The Houston County District Attorney’s Office says Brian’s first court date was November 26, 2018. Right now he is waiting for his release hearing. The GBI Crime Lab in Macon will do the autopsy on Lucille Ann on Tuesday.

The cause of death has not been found yet. The case is still being looked into. Police detectives K. Thompson and E. Smith are in charge of the case. You can call them at 478-302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers if you know anything about this case.
