A woman has sued actor, singer, and comedian Jamie Foxx, saying that he sexually assaulted her at a New York rooftop bar in 2015. Foxx says the event “never happened.”
A woman named “Jane Doe” filed a lawsuit in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court on Wednesday. The case says that Foxx rubbed her breasts and groped her under her pants without her permission.
In 2015, she and a friend were at Catch NYC, sitting at a table next to Foxx’s. The suit says the woman asked Foxx for a picture, and the two women took several with him. He started to praise her “supermodel body” and tell her she looked like Gabrielle Union, an actor.
Then, the suit says, he grabbed her by the arm and led her to a quiet place where he put both hands under her crop top and felt her breasts. The suit also says that she tried to get away from Foxx as he reached into her pants and touched her private parts.
“The woman walked away” when her friend saw them and stopped, the suit says.

A representative for the 55-year-old Foxx said in a statement Thursday that the claimed incident never happened.
“This person filed a case in Brooklyn in 2020 that was almost exactly the same. Soon after, that case was thrown out. The claims are just as false now as they were back then. We are sure that they will be fired again. “Once they are, Mr. Foxx plans to file a claim for malicious prosecution against this person and her lawyers for filing this action again for no reason,” the statement said.
The suit says that the woman wants damages that will be decided at trial.
This is one of many lawsuits filed this week under the Adult Survivors Act, a temporary law in New York that lets adult victims of sexual assaults claim when they would not have been able to before. The law stopped being valid on Thursday.
It is rare for the Associated Press to name people who say they have been sexually abused unless they come forward in public.
