CNS NewsThe Man from Minnesota has been charged with killing a 31-year-old model in her downtown Los Angeles apartment by beating her, tying her up, and stuffing her in the fridge. Magnus Daniel Humphrey, 41, was arrested at his home in Minnesota on a separate federal warrant, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He is on probation for federal drug crimes.

Police say that Humphrey has agreed to be sent to Los Angeles to face charges of murder and torture related to the death of Maleesa Mooney. On September 12, Mooney was found in her apartment. Her family hadn’t heard from her in a while and had called the LAPD to make sure she was okay.

According to a report released in October by the Los Angeles County coroner, officers got into her apartment with a key from the building manager and found her body in the fridge. Under the fridge, there was a pool of blood, and her body was found inside, tied together with clothes and electrical cords. She had something in her mouth that was made from clothing and other things on top of her head.

The report says that she had cuts, scrapes, and bruises on her face, head, back, and upper left arm from being hit hard. There was a broken rib. On their own, the blunt force injuries were not serious enough to have killed her, but the report says “she was likely involved in a violent physical altercation before her death.”

Her cause of death was listed as “homicidal violence,” and the report suggests she may have died of asphyxiation, even though there were no visible signs of strangulation. At first, no information was given about what led the police to Humphrey.
