The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on a Friday when Aquino was traveling on a crowded Bx2 bus. She initially heard mumbling from another passenger, which escalated when the individual proceeded to touch her inappropriately. Despite her attempts to address the situation with the driver, the aggressor continued his unacceptable behavior, even attempting to strike Aquino.

As the bus approached the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Grand Avenue, the situation intensified. Aquino, fearing for her safety and that of her children, resorted to prayer. However, the assailant escalated the situation by physically attacking her, ultimately dragging her off the bus and inflicting severe injuries.

Aquino’s recounting of the events highlights the immediate danger she faced and her desperate attempts to protect herself and her family. Despite her efforts to defend herself, no one on the bus came to her aid, leaving her vulnerable to the assailant’s violent actions.
