Police Say Four People Were Found Dead in a Home in the Kendall Area After a Murder-suicide

Four bodies were found in a home in Southwest Miami-Dade County on Sunday afternoon. Police say it looks like the deaths were a murder-suicide.

Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Det. Angel Rodriguez told reporters that the bodies of two men and two women were found at a house on the 4500 block of Southwest 137th Court in Kendale Lakes when officers were called to do a wellness check.

Another man, Rodriguez said, was found alone in a room with a gun. He was thought to be around 60 years old. Based on what we know so far, the man killed three other people and then shot himself. Their bodies were found all over the house.

Investigators think the shooting had something to do with a family member, but Rodriguez said that the exact family ties haven’t been proven. NBC6 was told that the man went to the house because he hadn’t heard from his 85-year-old aunt in three days. When he got there, he saw that his stepmother, her ex-husband, her son, and the wife of her son were all dead.

The names of the people who died in the murder-suicide have not been made public yet by the police.

Rodriguez said it was true that one of the women killed was an elderly hospice person. It’s not clear how old the second woman was, but the guy who was killed was about 80 years old.

Miami-Dade property records show that Mercedes Morato and Jesus Regueira own the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home. In 1993, they bought the house.

Rodriguez said that the cops will keep looking into the deaths at the house until Sunday night.

“We always tell people in the community how important mental health is.” “It’s an important part of our overall health,” Rodriguez said. “Please know that there are many services in the county that you can use if you are feeling down or need to talk to someone.”
