Responding to Trump’s Remarks About NATO, Graham Said, “If You Don’t Pay You Get Kicked Out”!
CNS News– Former President Trump recently said some things about NATO. In response, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that he agrees with the former president and wants all members of the union to do what is fair. Trump has said more recently that he told a foreign leader that Russia can “do whatever the hell they want” if their country didn’t pay enough into NATO.
This comes after he said the same thing before. It’s important for NATO countries to pay their fair share, Graham said in an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “I want to make it so that you are kicked out if you don’t pay.” “But no, I’m not welcoming Russia into Ukraine,” Graham said on Sunday.
“President Trump is right to want NATO countries to do what they agreed to do and pay 2 percent.” “It needs to become a duty that means something to us.” I like NATO a lot, but there’s still $70 to 80 billion to be spent. “Pay the 2% if you’re in NATO,” he said. Trump wants NATO members to do more, and one big part of his plan is to get all of them to commit 2% of their gross domestic product to defense spending.
This is a goal that NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says at least half of the 31-member union will reach by 2024. Graham said, “I believe it is proper for everyone to fulfill their duty of 2 percent.” According to Trump, his comments caused some in the Republican Party to disagree with him, while others tried to support them.

In the past, Trump has said bad things about NATO. He also attacked the group a lot while he was in office because he thought some members weren’t doing enough. Trump’s comments were called “appalling and dangerous” by President Biden in a statement at the time.
“It is horrible and dangerous that Donald Trump has admitted that he wants to give [Russian President Vladimir Putin] permission for more war and violence, to keep brutally attacking a free Ukraine, and to target the people of Poland and the Baltic States as well,” he said.
