CNS News–In Columbiana County, Ohio, a deeply unusual and poignant story unfolded when Sheriff Brian McLaughlin discovered a situation far beyond the ordinary scope of law enforcement investigations. The case revolved around Robert Rea, a 70-year-old man and owner of Nettle Creek Farm & Nursery in Salem Township, who was found deceased in his family home.
However, it was the additional discovery in the family RV that brought a unique twist to this case. Upon entering the camper, parked behind a barn on the vast 40-acre farm, officials found the body of Peggy Rea, Robert’s wife, who had reportedly passed away six years prior.
The son, John Rea, revealed that his father had been living in the trailer with his deceased wife’s body since she died in 2017. He also mentioned that Robert had been personally tending to her remains. The state of Peggy’s body was described as unusually well-preserved, wrapped in a blanket, and surrounded by herbs, a testament to Robert’s care.
This level of preservation was notably uncommon, as Sheriff McLaughlin, with his extensive experience, had rarely seen a body remain so intact over such a period. The couple’s Quaker beliefs, as reported by their son, played a significant role in this scenario.

John explained that his parents wished to be buried at the same time, in line with their religious lifestyle. Following the discovery, the bodies were sent to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiners for detailed examinations to determine Peggy’s cause and approximate date of death.
