Technology Company Shuts Down Florida Facility, Announces Layoffs Dozens Of Employees!

CNS NewsAmidst a backdrop of widespread layoffs within the gaming industry, another technology company is closing its Florida facility, resulting in the dismissal of dozens of employees. Corsair Gaming, Inc., a leading global developer and manufacturer of high-performance gear for gamers, content creators, and PC enthusiasts, has decided to shut down its Origin PC facility in Miami, Florida.

This decision comes amidst a challenging period for the gaming industry, with reports indicating that 1/3 of developers have been affected by layoffs. The closure of the Miami facility will result in the layoff of 55 employees, as outlined in a Warn Notice dated February 1, 2024, by Chief Human Resource Officer Peter Hilliard.

The affected employees, who do not possess bumping rights and are not part of a union, will face permanent layoffs beginning on April 2, 2024, and continuing until April 16, 2024. The notice suggests that some impacted employees may have the opportunity to transfer to Corsair Gaming’s facility in Duluth, Georgia.

Corsair Gaming, Inc., headquartered in California with over 2,400 employees, has not escaped the industry-wide trend of layoffs. Employee reviews on Indeed indicate mixed sentiments, with some praising the company’s pay and benefits while others lamenting high production demands and workload.
