During a speech in Las Vegas on a Saturday, Trump emphasized the need for full support towards Texas’ immigration deterrent measures, amidst an escalating dispute with the federal government over border control. Trump’s endorsement came against the backdrop of a significant legal development where the Supreme Court authorized U.S. Border Patrol agents to cut or remove the contentious sharp metal barriers, a move Texas has been resisting.
“When I’m president, instead of trying to send Texas a restraining order, I will send them reinforcements,” Trump proclaimed, vowing to deploy every resource at his disposal to safeguard the nation from what he described as a “horrible invasion.” The former president’s speech, rich in border security rhetoric, took place on an indoor soccer field within a predominantly Latino neighborhood, underlining his outreach efforts to Hispanic voters.
