CNS News– A devastating incident in suburban Houston has left a community in shock as Alrick “Shawn” Barrett, 46, carried out a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of four family members, including his 8-year-old niece, before taking his own life. This tragic event unfolded at a family residence and has raised serious concerns about domestic violence and gun control.
Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan detailed the harrowing events, which occurred early on a Saturday morning. Barrett, after returning his young child from a visit, confronted his estranged wife with a desire to reunite. Upon her refusal, Barrett initiated the shooting spree.
Among the victims were Barrett’s estranged wife, aged 44, her 43-year-old brother, and 46-year-old sister. The situation was first reported by a 13-year-old boy, Barrett’s nephew, who, along with Barrett’s 7-year-old child, managed to hide and escape physical harm during the incident. The mother of Barrett’s estranged wife was also present in the home but remained unharmed.
