  • Your Trash is Fair Game: The cops can search your trash can as soon as you roll it to the curb. The same goes for if you threw away the drink they offered you. They could still get your DNA from it.

  • You Don’t Have to Talk to Or Let an Officer Into Your Home: You don’t have to let a police officer into your home unless they have a search order. You don’t have to talk to the police if they come to your door. You can even tell them to leave.
  • Ask if You’re Free to Go: After you answer the officer’s questions, you should always ask if you can leave. You can leave without having to do anything else if the cop says yes.
  • Sometimes officers break the Law: A police officer is not perfect, and neither are you.
  • Ignorance IS NOT the Same as Innocence: If you break the rule, you can still get in trouble, even if you don’t know about it.
