CNS News– Former President Donald Trump has once again found himself at the center of controversy, this time for criticizing the daughter of a New York judge just one day after the judge issued a gag order against him. Trump took to social media to criticize Judge Juan Merchan, whom he accused of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Trump also criticized Merchan’s daughter, who he claimed represents several prominent Democrats, including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Adam Schiff. The context of Trump’s criticism lies in the criminal trial involving Trump and his alleged hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Merchan is presiding over the case, which accuses Trump of falsifying business records to keep the payment under wraps. In response to Trump’s previous comments about Merchan, the judge issued a gag order barring Trump from making public statements about individuals involved in the case.
Despite this, Trump continued to criticize Merchan and his daughter, accusing them of trying to deprive him of his First Amendment right to speak out against what he perceives as the weaponization of law enforcement.

While Trump is entitled to criticize the legal validity of the gag order, his attacks on the judge’s daughter have been criticized as petty and unnecessary. There is currently no evidence to suggest that the political connections of Merchan’s daughter would translate into bias against Trump during the trial.
