COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Attorney General is accusing a woman of defrauding Ohio Medicaid out of $1.8 million, and the police are requesting the assistance of the general public in locating the lady she is investigating.
Janay Corbitt, who is 36 years old, was indicted by a grand jury in Franklin County on eight counts of felony offenses. These charges include participating in a pattern of corrupt activity, aggravated theft of $1.5 million or more, identity fraud against a person in a protected class, identity fraud, Medicaid fraud, and forgery.
According to Attorney General David Yost, Corbitt stole the identities of a number of individuals in order to establish and run two fraudulent behavioral health counseling firms in the Dayton region.
Additionally, she is suspected of stealing the names of a number of certified counselors and using their credentials to submit Medicaid claims for services that were never rendered. The amount that was taken from Medicaid is estimated to be greater than $1.8 million.
According to Yost, Corbitt was found guilty in 2019 of a separate Medicaid fraud in which she was sentenced to pay back $204,412; however, she has only paid back $6,255.
Corbitt is currently being vigorously sought after by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) of the United States Marshals Service.
