Fatal NYC Subway Altercation: Police Suspect Involvement of Three Shooters, Leaving 1 Dead and 5 Injured

According to the latest update from the New York City police, it appears that there were three individuals involved in a tragic altercation that occurred on a subway car during rush hour.

However, as of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The gunfire resulted in the unfortunate loss of one life and left five others injured.

Gunfire broke out shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday as the train arrived at an elevated Bronx subway station. During the mayor’s weekly news conference, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed that a total of 19 shell casings were found, with three of them discovered inside a subway car.

“As the train arrives at the station … a gunshot is heard from inside the train car,” Kenny reported. “There is a situation where a train is overcrowded, arriving at a platform that is also overcrowded. Suddenly, a gunshot is heard, causing panic as everyone tries to quickly exit the platform.”

Subway Shooting Update: Investigators Identify Suspected Shooters

Kenny mentioned that investigators have potentially identified one of the suspected shooters, and are currently working on identifying the other two. It is believed that the individuals in question may have affiliations with opposing gangs, as they boarded the subway at separate stations and coincidentally ended up on the same train.

Earlier Tuesday, the police released photos of two individuals who were allegedly involved in the shooting incident and fled the scene.

Kenny mentioned that first responders discovered three of the shooting victims on the elevated subway platform and two more on the street below. Another individual made their way to a nearby hospital.

Kenny reported that a man, aged 35, tragically lost his life due to a gunshot wound to the chest. On Tuesday, authorities revealed the individual’s identity as Obed Beltran-Sanchez.

According to authorities, the remaining five victims, who vary in age, are expected to make a full recovery from their gunshot injuries. Four individuals, including two teenagers and a 71-year-old, sustained gunshot wounds to their extremities. A woman, aged 29, sustained gunshot wounds to her face and neck.
