Tatiana “Tati” Vargas, 35, was killed by Abiud Torres, 20, just two days before Christmas on December 23, 2023. The killing took place in the 3100 block of Hartville St. A family member said the victim’s 11-year-old son heard it. A report from Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI on January 2 said that Vargas’ younger sister Josie Vargas said of the victim’s son, “He heard them arguing.”
“He was in the room playing a game when he heard a gunshot. He went outside and saw her lying in the living room.” A press release from Philadelphia Fox affiliate WTXF reporter Steve Keeley says that the Marshals Service learned that Torres may have been visiting empty homes in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.

He was found Thursday by police. “At 6 a.m. this morning, more than twenty investigators from the fugitive task force got together to look into possible hiding places for Torres,” they wrote. A report at 6:45 a.m. said that Torres was in a house in the 1800 block of Hart Lane.
