FHP States that a Student Reports a Bomb Threat on a Charter Bus and Closes Service Plazas!
CNS News– There were a lot of police at the Port St. Lucie-Fort Pierce and Fort Drum service plazas on Friday afternoon because of a bomb threat, according to the police. Florida 511 says that there were a lot of cops on the north and south ramps to the service plaza on Florida’s Turnpike.
Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said that charter buses from the Michael Ann Russell Jewish Community Center were stopping at the Port St. Lucie service center at 2:16 p.m. for a short time. One of the kids on the bus went up to an FHP trooper and showed them a text message that said one of the charter buses had a bomb threat.
Cameras on the road showed that the service area was being cleaned up. The area was cleared out by the PSLPD and is now closed to the public. FHP said the kids were taken to a nearby school. People are being asked to stay away from the area until the scene is cleared by the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD).

A spokesperson for the PSLPD said that the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are in charge of the bomb threat probe. The exit for the northbound Turnpike was stopped for a while at Port St. Lucie Boulevard, and traffic was sent to SW Becker Road. Police said the service center and Turnpike were back open just before 5 p.m.
PSLPD said it is sending a bomb detection K-9 and a drone to keep an eye on things. Officers are also helping with traffic control by closing off the entrance to the northbound Turnpike and sending traffic to the northbound side of SW Becker Road. On video from traffic cams, you can see police and a K-9 unit searching one of the charter buses.
FHP said that they still don’t know if the threat is real. “Troopers and Law enforcement partners are working diligently to evacuate and confirm the credibility of the source,” the FHP said in a statement. Later that same night, the FHP said that during a search of the Port St. Lucie-Fort Pierce Service Plaza, no bombs were found.

FHP also said that the group was on a different private bus that made a stop at the Okeechobee Fort Drum Service Plaza. The FHP also said that no bomb was found at that repair plaza. The FHP said it has no idea about who the threat is. The probe into how the threat came about is still going on.
