Man Arrested for Planning Southern California’s Largest Street Takeovers!

CNS NewsLaw enforcement officials in Southern California have arrested a man suspected of being a key organizer behind numerous street takeovers in the region. Identified as Erick Romero Quintana, a 20-year-old resident of Paramount, Quintana is believed to have orchestrated large-scale street takeovers, smash-and-grab robberies, vehicle thefts, and other violent crimes, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

With a substantial social media following exceeding 70,000 followers, Quintana allegedly coordinated events throughout the Southland, contributing to a rise in illegal activities. The LAPD’s Street Racing Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in Paramount on February 7th, where Quintana was located and subsequently apprehended.

He faces charges of conspiracy and multiple felony counts related to organizing takeover events. Authorities and city officials have intensified efforts to crack down on illegal gatherings and activities, particularly in light of the escalating violence associated with street takeovers.

The California Highway Patrol highlighted the alarming increase in unsafe driving behaviors, including illegal street racing and sideshow activities, posing significant risks to public safety. To address these concerns, a new pilot program in Los Angeles will deploy additional officers at intersections known for takeovers.

The initiative also includes infrastructure enhancements such as raised and hardened center lines, pavement markers, rumble strips, and gutter installations at specific locations to deter illegal activities. CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee underscored the dangers posed by illegal street racing and sideshows, emphasizing the potential for tragic outcomes not only for participants but also for innocent bystanders.
