Deputy Sarah Ernstes and K-9 Mary Lu were dispatched to the 16000 block of Carlton Lake Drive around 7:57 p.m., following reports of the girl’s disappearance. Demonstrating exceptional tracking abilities, the K-9 unit was able to trace the girl’s path to a neighbor’s house and subsequently to an apartment complex in Wimauma.

Upon arrival at a nearby park, Mary Lu’s keen senses led the team to a locked bathroom door where the missing girl was located. Body camera footage from the operation captures the crucial moments leading to the successful rescue, showcasing the K-9’s ability to detect the girl’s presence.
