Ohio Foundation Starts Transfer of Millions of Dollars in Opioid Settlement Funds!
CNS News– Ohio is poised to distribute millions of dollars in opioid settlement funds to support communities and government organizations in combating the devastating effects of the opioid crisis. The OneOhio Recovery Foundation, responsible for allocating over $860 million in settlements secured from drugmakers and pharmaceutical companies, announced plans to release its formal request for proposals.
Since the first settlements were secured in 2021, anticipation has been high for the influx of funds to address the opioid epidemic. These settlements, totaling more than $50 billion from drugmakers, wholesalers, pharmacies, and other entities, aim to provide financial support to state, local, and Native American tribal governments.
The foundation’s grant cycle for 2024 will allocate up to $51 million to Ohio-based non-profits, for-profits, and government entities at the forefront of Ohio’s opioid battle. This program, touted as the first of its kind in the United States, emphasizes the importance of evidence-based strategies for prevention, treatment, and recovery support services.
