CNS NewsA tragic incident during delivery at a Georgia hospital has left a family grieving and seeking justice for their lost child. Treveon Isaiah Taylor Jr. tragically lost his life last year due to a broken neck, with his head detached during the delivery process, as determined by the Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The manner of death was ruled a homicide, prompting the parents, Jessica Ross and Treveon Isaiah Taylor Sr., to pursue legal action against the hospital. According to the parents, the lawsuit filed in August alleges that excessive traction was applied to the baby’s head and neck during delivery, leading to the fatal injuries.

The family accuses the hospital, Southern Regional Medical Center, of attempting to conceal details surrounding the baby’s death, including the fact that the baby was decapitated. The funeral home made the disturbing discovery and informed the grieving parents. The parents are determined to seek justice for their son, expressing their pain and desire for accountability.

They urge witnesses, including nurses present during the delivery, to come forward with their accounts of the incident. The lawsuit also alleges that the hospital withheld information from the family, denying them the opportunity for a free autopsy and urging them to have the baby cremated.

The medical examiner’s investigation revealed the cause of death as “fracture-dislocation with complete transection, upper cervical (C1-C2) spine and spinal cord,” compounded by pregnancy-induced diabetes and premature rupture of membranes. The family’s attorney claims that the doctor’s actions, including the failure to perform a timely Cesarean section, directly contributed to the baby’s decapitation and subsequent death.

Dr. Tracey St. Julian, the delivering physician, defends her actions, stating that she faced a dire obstetrical emergency to save both the mother and baby’s lives. She asserts that the separation of the head from the fetal body occurred post-mortem and was not a result of any wrongdoing on her part. However, the family remains steadfast in their pursuit of justice, seeking accountability for the tragic loss of their child.
