Six people, including four girls, were stabbed in separate attacks at a movie theater in Massachusetts. A man was arrested, and state and local police say the attacks may be linked.

An “unprovoked” attack happened at a movie theater in Braintree, Massachusetts, on Saturday night, stabbing four girls. Braintree is a city about 13 miles south of Boston. The girls, who were between the ages of 9 and 17, were taken to hospitals in Boston with injuries that were not life-threatening.

State Police say that about an hour later, a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were stabbed at a McDonald’s in Plymouth, a coastal town about 27 miles southeast of Braintree. The two victims were taken to hospitals in the area with injuries that were not life-threatening.

There were two attacks in two different places, but Braintree police said it “appears as though the crimes are related.”

Braintree police said that the police had identified the suspect’s car. State police then chased the car until it crashed in Sandwich, which is about 45 miles southeast of Braintree. After that, the driver was arrested and taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the police.

The suspect was named as 26-year-old Chilmark resident Jared Ravizza by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office on Sunday. Ravizza will be charged with several crimes in Plymouth District Court on Tuesday. These include two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to kill.

The country district attorney’s office said that the Massachusetts State Police probe is still going on.

Police say the guy walked into the AMC Braintree 10 around 6 p.m. Saturday, snuck past the ticket counter without paying and went into one of the theaters. “Without saying anything and without any warning, he suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young females,” police said.

Police say the man then left the theater and drove off in a black SUV. The police were able to look at surveillance footage and later follow his moves by recording the license plate of the car he was driving.

Someone who went to the movie with Boston25 News said, “They looked like they just saw a horror movie and not a kid’s movie.” “The kids looked really shocked when they came out.”

Police said that a car that matched their description was involved in an assault in Plymouth.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that around 7 p.m., Massachusetts State Police got several calls about two workers being stabbed at McDonald’s. Video surveillance seemed to show Ravizza reaching through the McDonald’s drive-thru window and cutting the man with a big knife.

The video then showed Ravizza leaving the drive-thru to park his car, and then he went inside the McDonald’s and stabbed the second woman, according to the county district attorney’s office.

Ravizza then ran away, and his car was found in Sandwich by state cops, according to state police. Troopers tried to stop the car, but it wouldn’t stop, and the driver then crashed.

“Preliminary investigation suggests a likely connection to an earlier incident at a movie theatre in Braintree resulting in non-life threatening injuries to four juveniles,” police said.
