In an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker, Haley underscored the need for clarity on Trump’s legal matters before November.
Haley’s stance comes in light of the recent decision by the Supreme Court to consider Trump’s claim of presidential immunity in response to criminal charges. The potential timeline for Trump’s election interference trial could be extended as a result of this decision, prompting Haley to advocate for timely resolutions.
Acknowledging the significance of upholding the law, Haley stated, “I just think a president has to live according to the laws, too. You don’t get complete immunity.” She expressed her belief that presidents should not have unchecked authority and emphasized the need for accountability.

Additionally, Haley commended Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s decision to step down as the GOP head, highlighting the necessity for new leadership within the party. Criticizing both Trump and President Joe Biden, Haley reiterated her concerns regarding their ages and called for a shift towards a new generational leadership.
Regarding the immigration issues at the southern border, Haley held both Biden and Trump responsible, characterizing their dueling visits to Texas as “comical.” Despite not winning a state primary or caucus yet, Haley expressed excitement for Super Tuesday, where 874 Republican delegates are at stake. She stressed the importance of voters making informed choices in the primary elections.
