CNS NewsIn a startling turn of events, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. announced the indictment of 15-year-old Jesus Rivas-Figueroa in connection with a shooting incident in Times Square. Rivas-Figueroa, a migrant hailing from Venezuela, stands accused of firing his weapon inside a clothing store, critically injuring a tourist, and subsequently engaging in a shootout with law enforcement officers.

The harrowing sequence of events unfolded on February 8th, when Rivas-Figueroa allegedly attempted to pilfer merchandise from JD Sports in Times Square. When confronted by a store employee, he reportedly brandished a firearm and discharged it, inadvertently striking a 38-year-old female tourist from Brazil.

The victim was promptly rushed to Bellevue Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Subsequently, NYPD officers responded to the scene and pursued the assailant as he fled. During the pursuit, Rivas-Figueroa purportedly turned the weapon on one of the officers, further escalating the confrontation.

The brazenness of the incident, occurring in the bustling heart of Times Square, underscored the recklessness and disregard for public safety exhibited by the suspect. After a frantic 24-hour search, law enforcement officials apprehended Rivas-Figueroa in Yonkers, located in the Hudson Valley region.
