As a result, this travel advice has been put in place. At 65 for January alone, Jamaica’s murder rate ranks among the highest in the Western Hemisphere.

Many people doubt that local law enforcement can effectively respond to major crimes, and even when they can, sentences are rarely finalized. Jamaican authorities can take over a year to provide final death certificates to families of U.S. citizens who have been engaged in accidents or homicides in the country.
